An In Silico Electorate: Persona-Based Forecasting of the 2026 South Korean Local Elections

  • Built a civic-intelligence system that simulates 1M synthetic Korean citizen personas using a sovereign Korean LLM (KT Mi:dm 2.0) and a 2-D spatial voting model to forecast public reactions and district-level election outcomes.
  • Validated through backtesting, achieving 88% directional accuracy on the 2024 National Assembly election (174 districts) and 71% on held-out 2022 gubernatorial races.
  • Publicly pre-registered timestamped forecasts for all 239 races (16 metropolitan governors, 223 mayors) ahead of the June 2026 nationwide local elections, correctly predicting 15/16 governor races (94%) and 192/223 mayoral races (86%).
